In addition to family portraits and holiday sessions and all of that good stuff, I've decided to start working on a photography project just for me. Years ago when I was a student at MPC and learning how to develop my own black & white photos in a darkroom, I started to realize how fascinated I am with photographing tattoos and body art. So I've decided to start focusing in on them again. Which brings me to my current model call!
Recently I had the awesome opportunity to work with my good friend Cynthia, who has been working on her YouTube channel Giving Into Cyn, where she tries out and reviews lots of delicious and creative recipies for your viewing and mouth-watering pleasure. Cynthia realized the one major thing missing from her channel was her own face! So she called me up for some professional headshots that reflected not only her love of cooking and baking, but also her whimsical side. I set up a couple of different backdrops in her backyard, and Cynthia came armed with a super cute black chef's hat and a killer smile. We just had tons of fun playing with different props. From mixing bowls, sugar skull salt and pepper shakers, to cupakes that we decorated together!
There are fires blazing in California right now and it's really, really scary how close it is getting and how far it's spreading. So I thought today I would get a little personal with you and share a happy story instead. It's a little bit long, so I hope you don't mind. Three years ago today, my husband got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. And he did so in song, no less! So in the spirit of How He Asked, let me tell you how it all went down...
One of my favorite sessions of all time was something I did just for fun. I collaborated with the very talented hair stylist Inez Salinas, put out a model call on Facebook, and brought my vision to life. Even though a few years have gone by now, I still smile when I look at those images, and am proud of what we were able to create.
